    Article 1505 - Surname of children

    Parents are under an obligation to have determined the surname of their children with joint irrevocabledeclaration. The declaration is made before the marriage, either in the presence of a notary or to the official before whom the marriage will be contracted. The officialis under an obligation to request for suchdeclaration. The designated surname which is common to all children,may be either the surname of one of the parents or a combination of their two surnames, which however must comprise more than two surnames.
