1.  A Child born before 8.5.1984 by a mother who was Greek at the time of birth or at the time of the marriage celebration from which the child was born, shall become a Greek citizen, if such intention is declared before the General Secretary of the Region or to the Greek Consular Authority of the child’s place of residence or stay.
  2. A child born by a Greek father and a foreign/alien mother before the enactment of Law 1250/1982 (16.7. 1982), where it is considered legitimate in accordance with the provisions of article 7, paragraph 3 of the above Law, shall become Greek citizen, if such intention is declared before the General Secretary of the Region or to the Greek Consular Authority of the child’s place of residence or stay.
  3. The acquisition of Greek citizenship in the cases of the preceding paragraphs shall be ascertained by decision of the General Secretary of the Region.
  4. The Children of those persons who acquire Greek citizenship, according to the present article, become Greek citizens without any further formality, if at the date of the declaration are minors and unmarried.

Article 21

VI. Lossbydeclarationdue to marriage with Greek citizen

A foreign woman, who acquired Greek citizenship because of her marriage to a Greek and maintains a foreign citizenship, shall lose the Greek citizenship, if she declares her intention before the General Secretary of the Region or to the Greek Consular Authority of her place of residence or stay. For the elimination of Greek citizenship a declaratory decision of the General Secretary of the Region is issued.

CHAPTER C

REACQUISION OF GREEK CITIZENSHIP

Article 22

A Greek woman, who lostthe Greek citizenship by marriage to a foreigner, may reacquire it, if she declares her relative intention before the General Secretary of the Region or to the Greek ConsularAuthority of her place of residence or stay.

Article 23

A child born of a Greek mother and lost the Greek citizenship because of legitimization or paternity acknowledgment by a foreign father, may reacquire it, ifhe/shedeclares his/her relevant intention before the  General Secretary of the Region or to the Greek Consular Authority of the place of residence or stay. The Children of those persons who acquire Greek citizenship, according to the present article, become Greek citizens, if at the date of the declaration are minors and unmarried.
